Don't Look Back In Anger

Oh Tori. Her new bootleg of a show in Manchester, England contains one of the best covers she's done in recent years, and one of the funniest & best stories she's told. In the middle of her set she has a covers section. If only she listened to her music...

(typed up by me)

So, sorry I was late tonight but I was practicing a song. Um, I've never done this before and it's gonna suck, so be nice to me.
But, it's from people from here...
*audience shouts a request*
It's not the Smiths...piss-off! Anyway, um,
*audience shouts another request*
*repeats request*
Maybe. If you're nice.
*more shouts*
Eh? Give me a minute, I'm doing a Mancunian thing!
*more shouts*
*Tori makes goose-honk noise*
*laughs, another shout*
Give me a minute!
*someone shouts Morissey*
Now, it's not Morissey becuase he pissed me off, and I'll tell you why.
*Fuck Morissey!*
That's right! and I'll tell you why, I'll tell you why...I don't know he could be a nice guy by now, but a long time ago...
Let me tell you why, Fuck-off!
*loads of applause*
Ok, great band...I can't believe I'm having this conversation with you people. I'm coming out of a TV show right, it's forever ago, and, um, he's walking past, he's this little short guy. And I'm walking past - I had heels on so I can say that - and I look back and I just said 'Hey man really great songs' and he said 'What the fuck do you know?'
Um, and basically we never spoke I'm not doing his song. But I like the band and I listen to the songs. But this is somebody else so let's try it...
*plays a few chords*
Heh, it's not The Beatles...I know, they're up the road! I know, I know
*begins playing Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger*

At about halfway through, she sings:
"Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out, MORRISSEY!"

Science Stuff

Because of my tie-shopping story, Janiece informed me of an Ebola tie she saw at a conference. After some google searching, I found these:

Infectious Awareables. The Human Genome tie is awesome!

And of course, who wouldn't want a plush syphillis "animal" from Giant Microbes.

JaCara is my new absolute favorite person ever. When she didn't come to Hydrate, I wondered why, then I got this text message...

"Sorry about last night. I was getting some TLC (Totally Lickable Castillian) LOL."

Movies of the Year

This is a pretty cool compilation of everyone's best of lists.

Chronic - What?

So the SNL with Jack Black also had a really funny Beastie Boys -esque rap&video that has blown up on the internet.
ITunes lets you purchase it for free!

Too good to be true!

Al Sharpton wants his own sitcom

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - He has led civil rights marches, scolded the nation's leaders and even run for president, but the Rev. Al Sharpton now wants to do something completely different -- star in his own television sitcom.

Sharpton, in an interview with Reuters on Friday, confirmed a report in Daily Variety that he would soon be filming a pilot for a family show called "Al in the Family" that would revolve around his larger-than-life personality.

"I don't know if I am a good actor or not but I will be playing myself and I have been practicing that for 51 years," the New York Democrat and civil rights leader said.

He added that in the show, "I am the center of a family with different social and political views and we crack jokes and confront each other but are a family."

Asked if one of his children was a Republican on the show, the man who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 said the producers asked him not to give away too many plot details, "but you can assume something like that."

Sharpton said he was attracted to the idea of a sitcom because "this is a way of impacting and bringing a social message in a way that people can digest it. We will talk about our differences and our commonalities."

A pilot episode for a series would be produced early next year by Paramount Network Television for CBS. Both are units of Viacom Inc.

Each year, networks view a series of pilots to determine what shows they will order for the season. Many pilots fail to make it into full production.

Sharpton has been involved in many controversies since bursting onto the public scene more than two decades ago, among them his defense of a young black woman, Tawana Brawley, who charged she was raped by law enforcement officers.

Her story was later exposed as a hoax, although Sharpton has never conceded he was wrong.

He also led many protests against high-profile cases of police brutality in New York and won praise for enlivening the 2004 primaries with his sharp wit and colorful rhetoric.

Sharpton has made guest turns on several TV series.

I swear I didn't write this...

It's pharm mnemonic time. While I'm working on those, others are working on comprehensive lists of the drugs and side effects. I swear I didn't write the following (read the end):

Cocaine – indirect sympathomimetic potentiates NE > epinepherine by blocking reuptake of catecholamines at adrenergic nerve terminals.

CNS: General stimulation, euphoria, dysphoria, followed by depression
CV: small doses --> bradycardia; moderate doses --> tachycardia, vasoconstriction, Local anesthetic: blocks Na+ ion channels --> ↓ nerve fiber conduction.

Clinical: surface anesthesia
Side effects: CV (fatal arrhythmias, coronary vasospasm). Turning into Whitney and Bobby

We will be tagging on Monday at 6pm up in the lab. Some of you helped out the last time and to you the M1s are forever grateful. We'd love to have you back and new M2's to tag as well. Please let me know if you'll be able to help us out. Thanks.
